The First Lady Pinotage is a light and lively number that isn’t shy of a bit of spice.
Tasting Notes: The nose leaps out of the glass with mulled strawberries, cherry, and spice. The palate is vibrant
and silky with red cherries, dark chocolate, floral notes, and cinnamon. Silky tannins add texture to an alluring floral and elegant finish. Enjoy now or age for the next three to five years.
Recommended food pairings: Barbecued pork belly.
Situated in the foothills and mid-slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, with altitudes ranging from 240 to 360 metres above sea level, our estate carries all the elements required to make world-class wine.
With cooling factors from both elevation and ocean breezes, as well as a variety of slopes, aspects and soil types, the Warwick vineyards are a mix of classic Bordeaux cultivars, with a touch of South African stalwarts like Pinotage and old vine Chenin Blanc.
Hopefully it’s clear that we view our wines as the result of interplay between man, vine, and environment. It’s this cognisance of our environment that leads us to talk rather of our heritage, as opposed to simply our ‘history’.
